During our recent LED lightshow upgrade, we hosted a social media competition that empowered Victorians to contribute to our new light show. After an abundance of entries, we have selected our grand winner.
Congratulations to Javier Calzada on taking out first place! Javier’s LED lightshow, designed in collaboration with the audio-visual artist at the forefront of digital and spatial experimentation - Kit Webster - will light up Melbourne’s twinkling skyline one weekend in October.
You can read his impressive entry below:
‘A journey through Australian natural landscapes represented with abstract shapes and colours that evolve during each evening following the rhythm of nature sounds. Blue and white circles expanding and falling lines representing rain and drops of water. Blue, red and orange shapes for the Australian dessert. Green lines growing from the bottom up, turning into trees and blue spirals flowing like waves forming on the beach... Every time I drive past the Melbourne Star at night, I imagine it telling a story. I have thought about this many times and it seems there is finally an opportunity to give it a go’.
The date for Javier’s LED lightshow is still to be confirmed, so stay tuned if you are interested to see his light design come to life.
