The COVID-19 pandemic has required us to review and introduce a range of new health and safety measures that are in line with the government advice and health requirements.
To make sure when we do welcome you back, we do so in the safest way possible. Some of the measures will be clearly visible to you on arrival but, others require consideration from you as our guests.

The Melbourne Star does not take pre-booked departure times. However, you can purchase tickets online in advance to avoid ticket queues.   Melbourne Star Experience packages including food and beverage arrangements must be booked a minimum of three days in advance.   Advance bookings are required for groups such as schools and other educational institutions, school holiday program providers, and community groups. It is strongly recommended that groups of ten or more guests book in advance. Groups discounts are available for groups of 10+.

At its peak height of 120 metres – the equivalent of a 40 storey building – the Melbourne Star provides uninterrupted 360-degree panoramic views of Melbourne, Port Phillip Bay and the surrounding area, stretching up to 40 kms. Our in-cabin audio commentary will reveal interesting stories about Melbourne past and present.

Families always save more at the Melbourne Star. When travelling in family groups, your ticket prices are discounted by up to 30%. To qualify for family pricing, there must be at least one adult and one child flying together. See our Prices page for the full range of packages and prices.

Each Melbourne Star rotation takes approximately 30 minutes. This may be reduced slightly during peak periods. We recommend you allow between 45 minutes to one hour at the Melbourne Star for the whole experience. At times there may be an additional waiting time. At times there may be an additional waiting time. Please know this is essential to ensure we continue to focus on social distancing. With respect of this we suggest you allow up to 1.5 hours for your visit.

The Melbourne Star provides a complimentary in-cabin audio tour in English.

Due to operational requirements, the following items are not permitted to be taken into cabins:

  • BYO food and drinks (bottled water is allowed)
  • Animals with the exception of guide, hearing or assistance dogs
  • Rollerblades, bikes, scooters and skateboards
  • Restrictions apply on large bags and backpacks.
  • Prams and strollers are at the discretion of management
  • Mobile scooters – for those with mobility restrictions please refer to our Accessibility page for further details
